The student body packed the gym at Mid-Prairie High School on Monday, Nov. 25 to recognize the huge number of honor roll students this semester, “by far the biggest number that we’ve had,” principal Chuck Banks said.
Eighty-eight students earned the Super Student Award, which is given to those who earned the trifecta of Perfect Attendance, Honor Roll, and Work Habit Honor Roll awards.
“That is tremendous, absolutely tremendous,” Banks said.
The final hour assembly included a bit of fun between recognition of students by grade level. Faculty tossed snacks and candy into the bleachers, which was caught by eager hands. Class representatives played rock, paper, scissors to see who would get a pie in the face. Students and faculty both got a thrill from watching business teacher Chris Tyler face off against IT teacher Lucas Troyer; Troyer ultimately walked away covered in chocolate cream pie.
“I want to see twice as many people honored next semester,” Banks said, encouraging the students to continue working hard and asking for help when needed, before dismissing them for the day.
